Visual Arts

Movement: Ripple, Wave, Vibration

Water, land, sound, light, and ourselves. Movement in the environment, in nature, in daily life. After a time of individuals needing to be still or having to be still, this show seeks to explore movement and elevate visual art made by youth who recognize that movement continues and is continuous in our wide world.

Taos Halloween Community Event COVID Style:  The Town of Taos and our Merchant Community are excited to announce a Grab and Go event in the Taos Historic District!  2020 has affected most Town of Taos merchants and local businesses that would normally participate in our annual Halloween Trunk or Treat event downtown. As a result of NM Department of Health guidelines and recommendations, we are hosting a drive-through Grab and Go Halloween Event along Civic Plaza Drive. The Town of Taos Community Events, merchants, and local businesses are providing a Safe and FREE Halloween Event for children of all ages.

Volunteers will fill bags with goodies provided by the Town of Taos, local business sponsors and merchants.  The bags will be handed out to the first 2,500 children on Saturday, October 31, 2020, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (or while supplies last).  The event will take place on Civic Plaza Drive using COVID-Safe practices.  Town staff and community volunteers (gloved and masked) will be on hand to distribute Halloween bags.  All participants must attend in a vehicle; no walk-ups will be permitted.  We are asking families to please remain in their vehicles at all times and children must attend with an adult.  Children do not need to be in costume to receive a bag.

Civic Plaza Drive will be closed from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM for the Grab and Go event; however, businesses and homeowners will be allowed limited access and secure parking. The entrance to the Grab and Go will be a special lane on the southbound side of Paseo del Pueblo Norte on the corner of Civic Plaza Drive and Paseo del Pueblo Norte. Once you have received your treats, vehicles will then exit at the corner of Camino de la Placita and Civic Plaza Drive.  Civic Plaza Drive will be one-way traffic for this event only.   No parking will be allowed along Civic Plaza Drive and on the southbound side of Paseo del Pueblo Norte, starting north from El Pueblito Lodge down to Civic Plaza Drive during the day on Saturday, October 31, 2020.

We are also excited to be hosting an on-line COVID-themed Mask Decorating Contest for children ages 3 to 12, teens, families, and pets.  The contest is designed for everyone to have fun and be creative.   The first 170 children and teens registered will receive a treat bag provided by Sun Loans Company.  To participate you can register on Mask submissions will be accepted through Sunday, December 13, 2020.  Instructions are provided on the contest website. Winners will be contacted directly.

The Town of Taos Community Events would like to thank everyone for participating during this difficult time given all the hardships our community is experiencing.  Thank you for ensuring that our community youth and the young at heart are not forgotten this Halloween.  This event is made possible because of the many volunteers, staff, judges, merchants, business owners, and sponsors that helped make it happen.  We are a huge team, working together to bring the community a fun, safe, and free, COVID style Halloween Event.
