A valid library card is required to check out materials from the library at all times. The Taos Public Library issues library cards free of charge to any resident of the Town of Taos and Taos County.
New cards or replacement cards will not be issued 15 minutes prior to closing.
To obtain an adult library card, applicants must be 19 years old and have identification that includes a picture ID and proof of current local mailing address, along with a completed signed application form.
Forms of acceptable proof with applicants name and current address visible are:
Applicants who are part time or temporary residents or who have General Delivery or In Care of addresses or a business card from a local motel as an address may apply for a temporary card. Temporary cards require a $25 refundable cash deposit and a $5 non-refundable administrative fee.
Children between the ages of 5 and 18 must have a parent or guardian take responsibility to obtain a library card. Parents or guardians are required to obtain a library card, show identification and sign the application form for the child to have a library card.
Library cards are not transferable. If cards are lost or stolen, please notify the library immediately. Replacement cards incur a $3 fee.
