Policies
Computer Use
There are five internet accessible computers in the Children’s Library for the exclusive use of patrons 18 and under. In addition, there is one computer dedicated to children's games. Children are allowed two 30 minute sessions on the computers per day. Additional time may be granted for school projects and word processing.
Unattended Children
Children under the age of 10 years must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Parents are responsible for their children's behavior while in the library. Disruptive children will be asked to leave for the day after one warning.
Children ages 4 through 8 years attending a library program must be brought into the building by a parent or responsible childcare provider who must remain in the children's area until the conclusion of the program. Children under the age of 4 must be attended at all times.
Parental Responsibility
Library uses and programs are designed to be safe activities for children. Children are not allowed to engage in activities other than regular library programs and uses on the library premises.
Such activities as running, climbing, ball playing or physical contests are not permitted. Parents and childcare givers are expected to control the children under their care and not allow them to engage in these kinds of activities while on the library premises.
Parents and childcare givers are also responsible for the behavior of children under their care who are using the library without their supervision. The library staff will eject from the library any unsupervised children who are engaging in activities other than those appropriate to library use.
